For this challenge we would love for you to do some research into an artist. The idea is to get an understanding of one or more of the following:
- their style
- a particular way they work
- their favourite colour palette or subject matter
- what influenced them?
- an individual piece of their art that you admire (or dislike) etc
We are not looking for faithful recreations of any work (be aware of copyright issues), but just use it as an excuse to spend some time looking at other people’s artwork (ideally a painter, sculpture, etc, rather than a pure textile artist) and then use that as a jumping off point for your own ideas. There are some great exhibitions on this winter, or flick through Google photographs. Maybe take a small section of the work and work with that. Or use their colour scheme as a basis for your own piece.
