Wine
For this challenge you can use any connotation of the word ‘wine’ and interpret it however you wish. Ideas can come from its colour, chemistry, viniculture, production, sales, wine tasting terms, geography, celebrations,
downfall, climate, history, language, religion, cultural references, symbolism and so on. This theme provides a link to our venue and reflects its visitors’ interest.
Size: 25cm wide x 100cm long Hung as a single row. The long and thin format enables more pieces to be hung per linear metre of wall and is easily viewed. The aim is also to present these exhibits visually as a co-ordinated whole as part of our overall exhibition.
Techniques & finishing
You may use any techniques. Your finished piece must be the correct size and suitable to be hung flat on the wall (hanging sleeve instructions will be available later). It should conform to the general definition of a quilt ie at least 2 layers held together by stitch.
Alternative sizing for 3D pieces
We are expecting the exhibits to be suitable for wall hanging. However, if you only work in 3D and wish to submit a piece, it should not exceed 55cm in any dimension. If selected, it will be displayed separately as part of the third free challenge, on a table, or you may supply a suitable plinth.
Reveal Deadline: Sat 8 November 2025
The show and tell for this challenge will be at our November meeting.
