Image transfer onto paper and fabric

10 May 2025

On Saturday we learnt many ways of transferring images to paper and fabric with Chris Marchant. This included the different results of an inkjet or toner printed image, using 100% acetone or acrylic paint or medium, transferring onto tissue, cartridge, art papers and fabric. Also making prints onto freezer paper (the gloss side) and applying them to tissue or fabric.

Organisation is key and it is going to take practice to get the images we want. I imagine sales on Amazon went up in the evening as we all looked for the items we don’t have in our stash.

Some recommended items were:

  • Collar interfacing
  • Khadi paper
  • inkAID image transfer medium
  • Acetone 100% or Citra Solv
  • Heat transfer paper
  • Water soluble paper (Paper Solvy or from Barnyarns)
  • Wet strength tissue paper (Carnival)
  • CMC paste

A couple of good books recommended were:

  • Digital Fiber Art by Wen Redmond
  • The New Mixed Media Photography Book by Nitsa Malik

Thanks to Chris we had a fun and informative day.
